Arts Leads Honored at Artistic License Awards

On Saturday, June 10th, the California Lawyers for the Arts presented the 15th Annual Artistic License Awards in Sacramento. Two of the regional arts leads were at the event, Dr. Steve Winlock of the Sacramento Office of Education and Jeannine Flores of the Los Angeles County Office of Education.

Dr. Steve Winlock was recognized for his service to the arts, culture, and arts education in his community of Sacramento. Throughout his 40-year career, Dr. Winlock served as a teacher, principal, director of staff development, and associate superintendent. In his role at the Sacramento County Office of Education, he assists districts with arts education and implementation. In addition, he is also a performer and board member of many Sacramento arts organizations.

Jeannine Flores accepted an award on behalf of Create CA as Board Chair. Create CA was recognized for their dedication to ensure all students from preschool to grade 12 receive a high-quality, culturally responsive arts education and their key role in the passage of Proposition 28. Create CA actively works with districts and policymakers to implement the new arts education funding stream to ensure access to a well-round education for all California students.

California County Superintendents Arts Initiative is honored to have outstanding regional leads recognized for their impactful work on behalf of California students.
