Del Norte on the Move
In recent years, Del Norte County Office of Education has used the LCAP process to prioritize music education and ensure they have music teachers for students from primary grades through graduation. In grades TK-4 children are introduced to basic music concepts. Later, students have the opportunity to learn to play individual instruments, develop singing skills and participate in band and choral programs. As they progress towards graduation, students have the opportunity to participate in marching band and other school groups, such as Jazz band and Percussion Ensemble.
In 2020, an instrument repair class launched at Del Norte High School. This program is one of two in the state and provides a unique music career pathway for students in Del Norte County that is not focused on teaching or performing.
