Improving Arts Education Through Strategic Program Evaluation and Planning
A strategic arts education plan helps to unify schools and communities around goals for increasing equitable access to arts education for all students. When done thoughtfully, it is a great professional learning opportunity as well. There are many ways to approach strategic planning (see pages 684-687 for more). Professional Learning in Support of Effective and Equitable Arts Learning
- County Arts Leads: Many county offices of education have designated arts education leads who can provide professional learning on the California Arts Standards and the arts education curriculum framework. To learn more, download the County and Regional Lead Contact List.
- The California Arts Project (TCAP): TCAP is a statewide network of teachers and university scholars focused on expanding student access to arts education. They provide professional learning through collaborative networks of classroom educators and university faculty.

There are many examples of research-based connections that can be made that connect arts education and student success and well-being.
